Simon came forth in this years National league, not quite achieving his success from last year (2nd) but still staying with the top contenders.


Vintage Combat is a form of aero-modelling that has been flown in the UK for many years. Combat provides challenges on many levels, it is a fast and skillful discipline combined with tactics and the necessary support from your pit crew. It is the modern day version of the dog fight, fast, furious and with the danger of mid-air collisions.

Trees a crowd

Cube3 were invited to support the 'Going for Growth - Destination Profit' event organised by Essex County Council and 'Design for Business East' to promote design thinking in business. At the event, which was attended by local start-ups and SME's, each creative company was asked to produce a tree and use creative thinking to illustrate to attendees how design can benefit their business.

As the only company that worked within the 3D environment we decided to go with a concept where 6 cards were folded to create a full cube. On the outside; what design thinking can do for your company.... on the inside; some examples of Cube3 projects and a little something extra too.  The tree and cubes worked really well with the idea being that you plucked a cube from the tree to take away with you.  We hope to have forged some new and interesting relations throught the event and look froward to the next one.

Right Cut and Multifunction Tape Measure

Some time ago we entered into a joint venture with a start up IP company and developed a patented device for measuring and cutting wood accurately and squarely.  This project was another ground up design from concept to manufacturing data.  It is now manufactured in China under license and won hand tool of the year at two prestigious UK events in 2010.  It is now distributed by Toolbank under the Faithfull brand, Clas Olhson as the Multifunction Tape measure and has a number of other brands very interested in the increasing sales volumes the product is currently making.

The product is being received very well, with users comments ranging from "How did I ever survive without this tool" to "Overall, first impressions are five-star"

With a vested interest in the product's success, we are looking forward to reaping the rewards for good design!

Cube3 Wins Chicago Athenaeum Design Award for Peli 9440 RALS

Cube3 has designed many lighing products for Peli's advanced area lighting group and we have recently won a Chicago Athenaeum award for good design for the ground up development of Peli's new 9440 RALS product.  This is a robust and versatile remote area work light that picks up where the Peli 9430 RALS (also designed by Cube3) left off. 

It was a challenging brief....super bright, long burn time, lightweight, over 2.5m high, quick to deploy, easy to use, easy to carry and robust!  The final product delivered on all of the requirements of the original brief and has now become a Peli best seller; proving to be the fastest selling new product they have ever released.

With a number of further developments in the pipeline, it looks to be a long and prosperous partnership for Cube3 and Peli!
